ARTARMON Streetscape Upgrade is in practical completion.  With the planting of the final tree on the 16th of August, Willoughby City Council gathered at the site of Hampden Road to revel in the long-awaited completion.

For the Streetscape project, enhancements were made, widening the pedestrian footpaths, improving and adding new traffic lights, a shared pedestrian path and cycleway, a new public toilet, and new landscaping where over 5,000 new trees, shrubs and ground plantings were installed.

‘The Artarmon Streetscape Upgrade Project signifies a commitment to enhancing our local infrastructure and creating a more vibrant community space for residents and visitors to enjoy’ says Willoughby City Council Mayor, Tanya Taylor.

An official opening ceremony is planned for November 2024, though the details are yet to be announced.  The NSW Government invested over $4.6 million towards the upgrades.

‘Artarmon’s Town Centre had undergone a major transformation following this urban streetscape upgrade project,’ says Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully. ‘Residents will be safer thanks to wider footpaths, improved traffic signal lighting and a new pedestrian crossing.’
