Lindfield’s New Rollers are hooked
1 min read

Lorraine and Gary Forster came to the Lindfield Rollers Bowling Club looking for a community life on the North Shore. Following many years as avid golfers, their new membership of Roseville Probus Club got them to the Rollers. They joined a Probus bowling group, playing at the Rollers Club.

Lorraine and Gary were hooked. They found lawn bowls to be a challenging game of skill, a new sporting experience that stimulates the mind as well as exercising the body. They gained many new friends from the 100-strong Club membership. In Lorraine’s words, ‘I love the fact that men and women bowl together in the fresh air and sunshine and that there is a mixing of all levels of play.’

Downsizing from their home in Cabarita to an apartment in Lindfield, both Lorraine and Gary have had busy lives, with two daughters and six grandchildren, Lorraine having worked 20 yrs. at IBM and Gary having been a successful builder. Lawn bowls is now their passion, enjoying club games on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at the beautiful club in East Lindfield overlooking Middle Harbour. Now Lorraine and Gary want to pass on their skills and the joy of the game to others.

Roger Parks, Chairman of Lindfield Rollers, says of Gary and Lorraine, ‘This partnership of husband and wife represent the new era in lawn bowls. Newly retired, they are active and looking to have some fun. They are so enthusiastic about their New Bowlers Clinics, where groups can learn the art of the game in a 6-week organised programme. They understand the importance of forming new friendships in a social setting.’
