Thornleigh West students get creative in art space
1 min read

Students at Thornleigh West Public School have a wonderful new creative learning space thanks to funds provided by the Local School Community Fund Project.

Federal Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP recently visited Thornleigh West Public School to see the newly renovated art space which has been refurbished thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Federal Government’s Local Schools Community Fund.

Thornleigh West Public School identified the area as needing an upgrade, and they are very happy with the new space.

Work included removing the existing kitchen and art area, reconfiguring the layout and creating storage solutions for robotics equipment.

“This upgrade will complement the quality teaching and learning at Thornleigh West Public School,” Mr Leeser said.

“It is fantastic to see such an innovative space which will be able to cater for the creative learning needs of students.”

Principal Chantal Mamo said the students love using the new space.

“The renovations have made a huge difference to this area and is now a space students love to use and spend time in,” Ms Mamo said. “We are delighted with the result.”

The refurbished learning space will also be used by local community language schools, including Hindi and Japanese language classes, and therefore serves a diverse range of purposes.

The funds are provided as part of the Local Schools Community Fund. For more information, visit education.gov.au/local-schools-community-fund
