1 min read

THOUSANDS of Australians are tallying up their steps for breast cancer.

During August, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) are asking the nation to join “Step Up to Breast Cancer”, a 57km walk or run throughout the month to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Every day, 57 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia, and 9 people tragically lose their lives. Funds raised by the initiative is in support of research that will detect, prevent, treat, and better understand the widespread disease.

So far, over 10,000 people are registered for the challenge, and nearly $1million has been raised.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation funding breast cancer research. First forming in 1994, NBCF has supported over 600 world-class research projects, investing nearly $200million. Their continued vision is Zero Deaths from breast cancer, and a future devoid of fear of the disease.
