Editor’s Word - Edition 59

Welcome to October!

After the statewide Local Government Elections last month, a sigh of relief is in order. Results are yet to be finalised, though we can have a decent idea of the future of our North Shore and Northern Beaches councils.

But we are not free from the clutches of the dreaded Election Day (capital E capital D), as the residents of Hornsby, Epping, and Pittwater are expected to vote in a by-election for their state member on the 19th of October.

Featured in this edition is a sweep of candidate profile articles over the three electorates, ranging from the incumbent Liberals, to the Greens, One Nation, Sustainable Australia, and Independent candidates. Find these in our “ELECTION SPECIAL” section.

While the other hemisphere hunkers down for their colder months, we get to strip off our layers and enjoy the warmer weather in the last leg of the year. It is the time for festivals, some of which are featured in our “Community” and “Health and Lifestyle” pages.

October is Small Business Month. Our Publisher, Tina Brown, has written some words, as has Member for Willoughby, Tim James, the newly appointed Shadow Minister for Small Business.

Until the next edition,
