Can You Help Us Spread the Word?

Want an amazing way to give back? Lifeline’s recruitment drive is currently recruiting its next intake of volunteers to assist in its crucial mission of ‘an Australia free of suicide.’ Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney needs volunteers for telephone crisis support and digital crisis support.

This service, and all correlating services provided by Lifeline, exist to assist Australians 24/7 through their darkest moments. No matter their circumstance. No matter their backgrounds. Lifeline is always there to ensure no one faces a crisis alone. They are asking for volunteers to join their Crisis Support Line (13 11 14) and their Text and Chat Support Service (0477 131 144).

As a Digital Crisis Supporter, volunteers can offer support and reassurance to someone in need from their own homes. This is just two 4-hour sessions per month.

As a Crisis Supporter, volunteers will undertake one 4-hour, fortnightly shift at the Gordon call centre answering calls and listening to caller’s situations and offering support. Training programs are all provided.

“Although people of all ages and backgrounds use our digital services, what we are seeing is more and more young people using them because they are far more comfortable communicating in the ways they have grown up with,” says Elizabeth Lovell, Lifeline H2HS CEO.

Like so many others, volunteers will be joining the Lifeline Crisis Supporters team. These amazing volunteers offer their generosity, care and nurturing nature, all in the effort of helping those who struggle and need support within the community.

One Crisis Support team member states: “It has changed my life and has taught me many new skills to use, not only with our callers but in everyday situations. I look forward to my fortnightly shift knowing that I can make a difference to someone’s life."
