Christie’s Classic Whodunnit? Mystery At Glen Street Theatre
1 min read

For its 70th birthday, Agatha Christie’s genre-breaking murder mystery The Mousetrap toured Australia. Crossroads Live Australia and Shake & Stir Theatre Co are bringing The Mousetrap back on the road after selling out in capital cities across the country.

Glen Street Theatre are the only Sydney venue to be part of the tour. The Mousetrap will be at Glen Street Theatre from the 15th to the 25th of August.

Produced by John Frost, directed by Robyn Nevin, with lighting design by Trudy Dalgleish, and costume and set design by Isabel Hudson, The Mousetrap is set to be a success.

‘I’m thrilled to partner with Shake & Stir Theatre Co to tour The Mousetrap,’ says John Frost. ‘I know audiences love to try and solve the mystery in what is probably the world’s most loved murder whodunnit. Will you pick the murderer?’

The Mousetrap follows the murder of a local woman, and stranded during a snowstorm, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor come together to find the killer among them. The band of suspicious strangers includes a police detective, newlyweds who run the manor, a spinster with an enticing backstory, an architect, a retired Army major, a man whose car was overturned, and a jurist.

Agatha Christie had not intended for the production to last on stage for more than a few months. Though, 70 years on, audiences are still enthralled by the classic Christie mystery.

‘This play has been a sensation for seven decades,’ says Nick Skubij, Shake & Stir Theatre Co Artistic Director. ‘It will be a monumental tour.’

Audiences who attend The Mousetrap are asked not to reveal the twist ending after leaving the theatre.
