Baroque Classical Music Giveaway Featuring Camerata Academica of the Antipodes

A STAPLE of the classical music canon, the Baroque period is renowned and revered. Following the Renaissance period, the Baroque style dominated the Western classical scene for over 100 years, and inspired some of the world’s most famous composers.

Classical Baroque composers include George Frederic Handel, Henry Purcell, Michael Praetorius, and Antonio Vivaldi. Their legacy continues to live on, treasured and adored.

Camerata Academica of the Antipodes, Chamber Orchestra and Vocal Ensemble, are celebrating the music style in upcoming performances “Baroque Unbound” and “Beyond Baroque 2”.

Under the direction of Dr Imogen Coward, “Beyond Baroque 2” will feature the Vivaldi’s L’Estro Armonico & La Cetra, Handel’s Op6 No.5, Praetorius’ Terpsichore, some of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, who is best known for Swan Lake, and piano by Australian composer Dr Leon Coward.

Two concerts are slated for “Beyond Baroque 2”, on the 17th of August at Pymble Uniting Church, and on the 18th of August at Point Church Anglican, Concord.

On the 25th of August, charity performance “Baroque Unbound” and Camerata Academica will bring rarely heard, enchanting musical pieces to life at St Alban’s Anglican Church Hall, Epping.

On the program is Vivaldi’s La Cetra Op.9 No.1, Purcell’s Abdelazar and King Arthur, and Handel’s Water Music. Starring soloists Christopher Porteous on violin, Taliesin Coward on violin, Leon Coward on piano, and Sophia Clark on cello, all profits made from the concert will go to support the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.
